Being a Parent

Being a Parent

How do you feel about this story?

Being a parent is very challenging…

You will encounter different struggles from giving birth to sleepless nights because baby keeps waking up in the middle of the night, dealing with tantrums, the cost of childcare, being worried because they get sick, etc.

Most of the parents have to leave early just to go to work while their babies are still sleeping and arrive home seeing their kids sleeping already.

The challenges of never ending laundry and pile up dishes.

That moment when you just cleaned the room and 5 minutes after, you see mess all over the place again.

That feeling when you have to buy school clothes, supplies, “baon”, and you’re a bit worried that you might not be able to provide your children’s needs.

You’re tired already and you want to sleep, but your child wants to play with you, so no matter how exhausted you are, you still play with your kid.

Life is full of challenges especially once you’ve become a parent.

Most of the time, as I look at them when they’re fast asleep. 18-20 years from now, how’s life with them going to be. It might sound way too far yet, but for me, it’s like a short period of time.

Then suddenly hours turn into days…

days into months…

and months into years.

These little humans that used to crawl up next to me in bed, who love to cuddle up and give you messy kisses on the cheeks…

suddenly becomes this young adult who hugs you and living the life of his own.

And those cheeky laughter, those annoying tantrums that used to echo throughout our home… gets filled with silence and solitude.

Leaning about parenting to a child is very challenging and learning on how to take care of them and protect them…

but as time goes by, you’ve realized that the hardest part of being a parent is “letting go” once they’re an adult and you have no idea how this thing is supposed to work.

So you hold on as tight as much as you can…

Spend as much time with them…

Because even though you had years taking care of them…

it just somehow doesn’t seem like it was enough.

When it’s time for them to go, it all hits you like a ton of bricks.

And all you can do is pray…

and trust that God will always protect them

as they start to make their way into the world alone.

Parenting is by far the most challenging and amazing experience of your life…

You will discover a lot about yourself

But one thing is certain… it’s never enough time.

So for all the parents with young children,

who’s days are spent trying to figure out how to make it through the madness

Exhausted day in and day out…

SOAK . IT . ALL . IN .

Because one day, all those crazy days full of noise, cartoons, tantrums, snuggles, sleep overs, Christmas morning magic, ballgames, school assignments, practices and late night dinners…

All will come to an end.

And you’re left hoping that you did the right things, so that when they spread their wings,

They will soar high.
