August is Breastfeeding Month

August is Breastfeeding Month

How do you feel about this story?

Are you a breastfeeding Momma but would like to know more tips about breastfeeding?

Are you expecting right now with your little one and want to get ideas on how to properly feed your baby?

Did you just give birth and need some motivation?

Well hello there, Strong Momma!

2 years ago, I gave up my stable office job and started Freelancing for ONE BIG MAJOR REASON… I WANT TO BREASTFEED MY DAUGHTER!

There were other minor reasons as well, like I feel drained of commuting, just to be stuck in traffic for hours, and as a Mom, spending time on the road just to go home will lessen my bonding time with my baby. Stress!

At first, I honestly felt like my nips are about to get ripped off, and just like every mom’s experience, it is painful during the first few weeks.

It’s exhausting sometimes right? I feel you Momma. We all go through that.

But you know, all the pain, those sleepless nights just to feed my hungry baby, swollen boobies, it’s all worth it!

I’m proud to say that I’m purely breastfeeding and feeding in tandem my 2 year old daughter and 2 month old son.

Say hello to Geralt and Zelda!

Breastmilk is a great source of bountiful nutrition that we give to our babies. It can prevent diseases, diarrhea, ear infections, pneumonia and asthma. For Mommas, based on research it can prevent postpartum depression, or lessen the risk of breast cancer, or ovarian cancer, or type 2 diabetes.

I’ve always seen myself breastfeeding my babies, and this journey wouldn’t be possible if I don’t have a great support system who motivates me a lot to keep going, such as my family, friends, breastfeeding community, different Mommy groups and FHMoms.

Maria Korina Bertulfo is the founder of Filipina Homebased Moms (FHMoms), the biggest and most active Freelancing Momma community in the country for Filipino women.

FHMoms is a strong Momma Community which you can easily communicate with and ask everything about Freelancing.

We Mommas, as much as possible, want to be with our babies while working. Well this amazing Momma community empowers and envision flexible work, more time with the family while working anytime and anywhere. Getting stressed in the morning, because you have to hurry up just so you won’t be late for work. UGH!

FHMoms provides different online courses and trainers are well experienced on their respective Freelancing field. Every first Monday of the month, you can also watch, ask and learn during the 2 hour live discussion and training. Isn’t that amazing?

As a Freelancer and a Breastfeeding Momma, it’s really good to have an amazing community of Moms who will support you and can relate with you, that’s why I’m very excited that FHMoms is joining Hakab Na!

Hakab Na! is the biggest gathering of breastfeeding communities in the Philippines. Families and breastfeeding advocates come together each year with the aim to promote not just the health and practical benefits of breastfeeding, but also to share the importance of providing proper support to breastfeeding mothers, and ultimately, normalize breastfeeding. It is being held on August each year as part of the Philippines’ National Breastfeeding Awareness Month and International Breastfeeding Week. And also in participation of the yearly global breastfeeding celebration, The Global Big Latch On, where mothers simultaneously breastfeed their children in an effort to set a world record. Volunteers from all over the world from within the community host each location.
